Trapped in a bottomless pit with no way out. Every rope I grabbed gave me false hope. I felt alone in many aspects of life and one day decided to claw my way out.

It didn’t start with eating 100 pounds of junk food a day. It began with small deviations from my goals, gradually increasing over time. You learn to lie to yourself, to live in a constant comfort zone of denial. Each day, you need more food to cope. You get heavier, more frustrated with yourself, and hate yourself for failing and never keeping the promises you made. It's a death spiral.

I lived in denial, addicted to the dopamine rush that food provided. It was my escape, my coping mechanism. On a typical night I would take down a large pizza for dinner with a half bottle of ranch, chug a two-liter Coke, and later hit up the 7/11 for a candy binge. As long as I was eating hyper-palatable foods, I could numb the pain.
